The wheelchair basketball squad fomerly part of the Rushmoor Mallards Disability Sports Club became integrated into the Woking Blackhawks Basketball Club in 2012.
The squad is made up of players from both the local area and further afield, including Southampton, London and Newbury. With a mix of experienced players, including current and former GB squad members, training together with less experienced players, the coaching staff focus on everything from fitness and basic skill development to providing opportunities for high level competition.
We have three teams in the British Wheelchair Basketball National League. The first team plays in Division 1 South and the second team in Division 2 South. Our third team plays in Divison 4 South East, where new and developing players can experience competiton. All three National League teams are mixed, and open to any player over the age of 14.
We provide an opportunity for our female players to play three times a year in the Women's League, wehre we are currently in Division 2.
Finally, our 15 to 19 year old players also play in the Lords Taverners Junior League South, with competitions three times a year, with an oppotuntiy to qualify for the National Finals where the top 8 teams compete to find the national champions.
Come along and watch our home games at Woking College and be assured of fast paced, competative,
exciting and inspiring sport.
All squads train togerther at our two training sessions per week. On Fridays, the early part of the Friday session is for new and developing players, with focussed sessions on core skills. The more experienced players join later in the session.
On Sundays, we have three hours of club training, preparing for the next games, or developing tactics, skills and general fitness.
Our squad is open to anyone over the age of 12 and you do not have to have a disability to play the sport.
