am inspiring performance tonight the Flyers laid
down the gauntlet to the rest of the league with a 86-65 victory away at
Windsor Warriors. An
inspirational performance from captain Jakub lead the
squad with 26 points and 7 rebounds. However it was a full squad performance
with all members significantly contributing to the results. Ladies
Awarded Woking Sports 'Team of the Year' At the
Woking Sports Awards ceremony held at the Holiday Inn tonight (Wed 21st
Sept). The Ladies first team were awarded Woking Sports Team of the Year.
There had been keen competition from other nominees which included the Flyers
who were also nominated. Damian was magnanimous at the Ladies win , congratulating the Ladies and Phil on their
achievements last year. Katie and
Hannah collected the trophy on behalf of the Ladies. Other squad members were
unable to attend due to training commitments for the Ladies Rose Bowl
Tournament being held at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday The Club
received two further nominations for 'Coach of the Year' (Damian) and Club of
the Year but were not successful in these categories this time. Woking
Blackhawks would like to thank Woking Sport for organising the event and
generally supporting sport within the Woking area. Chasers Take First
Honours Against Hunters In a
hard fought game at Woking Leisure on Friday 2nd Sept
Chasers beat the Hunters 74-57. And the Winner Is ----

presentation Proctor and Gambles HQ in Brooklands,
the Community Matters Awards were presented. The Club won the first prize and
will be receiving a cheque for £3,000 for the Junior National League squads. A massive thanks to all

bows out as Chairman at 11th Annual Club AGM At the
Club AGM on Monday Keith stood down as the Club Chairman. In recognition of
the considerable contribution made to the Club over his five year tenure he
was presented with a personalised plaque with with
thanks of the Committee and members. Keith
however, will still be around as he intends to actively work on the committee
and will still be a familiar face around the Club

Awards Evening Raffle The takings for the raffle have
now been counted and the final profit for the raffle was £245 which will be
donated to MacMillan Nurses - thanks to everybody who took part,

Finals 15 May Flyers
overcame the Basingstoke Blizzards in a hard fought tight game to win the
Karl Taylor Cup 65-63 . The
Blackhawk Ladies playing on the adjacent court were beaten by Winchester
Diamonds in the Ladies Cup final. Earlier
in the day the Hunters lost to 70:79 to Kingston School of Basketball in the
Surrey Plate . Junior
Awards Morning -14 May Over
180 players, parents, coaches and volunteers attended the 2010-11 Junior
Awards morning at Winston Churchill School Sports Centre. The
inaugural Presentation of the ,Costas and Koula Rakitzis SECRET
Recognition' was made. The award was proposed by the Club Executive (and
sponsored by Costas & Koula) as a recognition
to the significant and pivotal contribution that Costas and Koula have made to the Club since becoming involved in
2001 and who are now stepping back from active involvement.
