Steps to becoming a Blackhawk

1. What squad am I in?

This can be tricky to work out but let's have a go anyway. The 1st of September is a critical date. So, if you turn 16 after that date, then you can play for the U16s but if you have turned 16 before the 1st of September, you are an U17. This season, U17s and older belong to the senior squad which is split into three teams: Flyers, Hunters and Chasers.

Similarly, if your 12th birthday was on the 5th of April, for example, then you are an U13 this season but because the leagues in Surrey are organised in U10, U12, U14, and U16 you will be a member of the U14 squad and play in an U14s league.

We are often asked "when can my son/daughter start playing basketball?". Although our U10s and U12s play with smaller size balls, basketballs are rather heavy and little fingers may suffer as a result, so we don't recommend anyone under 8 taking part.

2. Who shall I contact?

Now that you have worked out which squad you belong to, you can go to your team's home page on this site and find out who your coach and team manager are or follow this link. If you are still unsure, call Martin Marshall, the Club Secretary, whose details are also on the Contact us page.

3. Come for a trial

From your squad's home page click on the Training Schedule & Venue option to find out when you can come to see us. The good news is that your first practice session is free. This will give you the chance to meet your team mates and your coach. If we all feel happy about life after that first session, then you may come to further practice sessions and join the club formally. Normal practice sessions are based on £2.50 per hour. 4. Fill in the registration form

To join the club, you need to fill in and sign the registration form, pay the appropriate fee (see below), and buy your shooting shirt (which will cost £25). The shooting shirt will be yours to keep because it will have your name on it!

Bracknell CVL (all teams) - £3

Surrey CVL (U12 & U14) - £3

Surrey CVL (U16) - £4 

Wessex League (all teams) - £4 (home and away)

 Training Session Fees

  £2.50 per hour - sessions are normally 2 hours so total cost per session is £5
